President Bush continues to travel the country trying to sell his plan for "Fixing" Social Security which is
designed to bring an end to this program which has served millions of Americans since its inception some seventy years ago.
I see Bush's plan for Private Accounts taken from Social Security taxes as a "backdoor" attempt to reduce the amount employers are
required to pay into workers SS accounts. He will never admit his plan leads to this outcome but no one has asked him if employers
would be required to put an equal amount into the private savings accounts. You can be sure they would not be required to do so.
We must ask Mr. Bush a pertinent Question. Why do you think solving a problem which does not presently exist becomes so important that
You need to travel the country expounding your idea for private accounts which today you admitted does Nothing to solve any
problem which may exist in the future?
We have always heard that US Government bonds are a sound investment, backed by the greatest government in the world. If this is true,
and we believe it is, then How Can the Social Security Trust Fund be in trouble? The bonds held by the Trust Fund will support Full
Benefits until 2050 or thereabouts and No One can predict how much money will be coming into the fund at that date. Another thing, if
the "baby boomers" are scheduled to retire beginning in 2012 and, even if All of them lived to be Eighty Years old, they will All be
dead by 2027, twenty years before the Trust Fund runs out of money! Mr President WE HAVE NO PROBLEM!!! |
Since President Bush is "Hell Bent" on doing something for Social Security, whether it needs anything Done or Not, why not kill two stones with one Bird? It appears that our government
cannot stop illegal aliens from crossing the border from Mexico because they want to come here to do jobs which nobody here will do and the "Baby Boomers" will soon begin retiring and trying to live on their
meager Social Security checks, I think Mr. Bush, being a great friend of the President of Mexico, should arrange for retirement villages to be built in Mexico for our senior citizens. Then send all retirees to
the Retirement Village down there and allow an equal number of Mexicans to cross the border to work and pay into the Social Security system here.. We know that living expenses in Mexico are much lower than in
the U.S. which would allow our senior citizens to live very good on their Social Security checks. The weather would be warm which would be more suitable for them as their blood got thinner in their golden
years. Some of them might even be able to hire Mexican house keepers too, so fewer of them would need to come to the US to find work. This would help solve the illegal alien problem! Our older citizens might
even be able to influence the Mexican government through their "south of the border" arm of AARP and bring about some changes down there. President Bush has asked to others put their plans on the table, well
Mr. Bush, this is just One of mine which I guarantee is better than what you have come up with so far. Take it and Use It and forget about your Private Accounts which is guaranteed to wreck the system. G. Lee
